Arise and Learn

Homemade Caramels
4 Cups sugar
1 Cup karo syrup
1 cup whole milk
2 cups whipping cream
1 cube butter
2 tsp vanilla
cook all ingredients, except for vanilla, over medium heat to maintain a med. boil. stir occasionally. When color changes to caramel color check (get cup of cold water drop some in to see if it balls up) remove from heat add vanilla. pour into buttered pan. let cool until it can be cut into squares. Wrap in wax paper.
